garden buildings

To us at Poultons, a shed is not just "a shed". It is a garden building which our particular customer wants for a specific purpose. We aim to satisfy that purpose and build exactly what is required rather than just offer set designs and sizes off the shelf. Most of our orders are for custom-made quality buildings, designed for you, individually.

Our buildings are made by locally skilled craftsmen at each of our sites, trained to work with the best timber available for the job - quality pine rather than larch or similar short life timbers - and to sound methods of construction.

Flexibility has become a by-word with us. If you can draw it, we can probably build it. We just need an idea from you, the customer, to start us off on designing your building. If you cannot find the building you want in this website, please email us at info@poultons.co.uk for further information or call us on 01747 853067 to discuss your particular requirements in more detail.

Orders varying from a 11.5m x 7.2m fully lined and insulated Classroom, a 138m2 industrial storage unit, to a 1.8m x 2.1m shed, multi-sided garden gazebo and a dog kennel measuring 1.2m x 0.6m have been accommodated within our personalised service.

Poultons was first established more than 50 years ago by Bert Poulton, developed by his son Terry and now Alan and Trevor Poulton carry on the business to the present day. A small family run business with four branches, we cover southern England from East Anglia, Essex, Herts through Kent, Surrey, Sussex across to Wiltshire, Dorset and the West Country. The Dorset branch is run by Edwin Sadd and Jim Hinde and Herts by Edwin's brother George. (The Sadd family business in Essex used to be timber so they are carrying on their own long family tradition).

Prices quoted include VAT and we have a minimum delivery charge of £35.
All buildings are supplied with a base coat treatment from our workshop.

Metric or Imperial?  We have used metric sizes on our prices quoted on this website.  This is because all timber is supplied in metric lengths.  However, many of our customers (and we, ourselves) use a double-speak format and we are only too happy to accommodate this.  A quick conversion table is given below:

Conversion Table
6’= 1.8m
9 ’= 2.7m
12’= 3.6m
15’ = 4.5m
18 ’= 5.4m
7’= 2.1m
10’= 3.0m
13’= 3.9m
16’ = 4.8m
19’ = 5.7m
8’= 2.4m
11’= 3.3m
14’= 4.2m
17’ = 5.1m
20’ = 6.0m

We look forward to hearing from you.
