Most garden buildings fall under permitted development, meaning they won’t need planning permission provided they meet the usual limits: a maximum eaves height of 2.5 metres, an overall height of 4 metres with a dual-pitched roof (3 metres for other roof types), and no more than half your garden covered by buildings and extensions in total. Rules differ for listed buildings, flats, and properties with an Article 4 Direction, so it’s worth checking your specific situation on the Planning Portal’s outbuildings guidance before you order, or simply ask us and we’ll point you in the right direction.
